Veterinary Technician Assistant

Location: Lake Country, BC

VCA Canada is seeking a committed full-time Veterinary Technician Assistant to enhance our team. As we expand our emergency services to operate around the clock, shifts will vary from daytime to evening, including overnight and shared weekend duties. For those who prefer night shifts, a dedicated overnight schedule can be arranged. Our rotation system ensures a balanced work-life experience for everyone.

Qualifications Required

  • Previous experience in veterinary settings is advantageous
  • Outstanding client service abilities that foster trust and loyalty
  • Excellent communication skills and capacity to collaborate with a diverse team
  • Compassionate and nurturing demeanor when caring for patients and clients
  • Ability to maintain composure and efficiency in high-pressure situations
  • Positive attitude and eagerness to learn
  • Initiative to perform tasks independently

Responsibilities Include

  • Assisting Veterinarians and Technicians with client support and treatment of animal patients, utilizing low-stress restraint methods
  • Supporting the Client Care service, including occasional reception coverage as needed
  • Preparing medications and supplies for clients based on Veterinarian and Technician instructions
  • Providing compassionate care to hospitalized patients, including feeding and walking duties
  • Managing and maintaining surgical instruments, including setup, cleaning, and sterilization
  • Performing general hospital maintenance tasks such as cleaning kennels and restocking treatment areas
