Technical Lead - Meditech Expanse Implementation

Location: Brantford, Ontario

Type: Contract, Temporary Full-Time

Duration: Initial 6-month contract with the possibility of two extensions (up to 18 months total)

Compensation: Competitive, commensurate with experience

About the Role:

Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Technical Lead to join their Meditech Expanse Implementation Project. This is a temporary full-time contract role, initially for six months, with the potential to extend for two additional six-month periods based on project needs and performance. As the Technical Lead, you will play a pivotal role in planning, developing, and delivering all technical aspects of the Meditech Expanse Project within a cloud environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical Project Management (50%):
    • Develop detailed project plans for technical aspects, outlining scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines.
    • Coordinate and oversee technical implementation tasks, ensuring timely completion within scope and budget.
    • Implement quality assurance processes and track project progress against key performance indicators.
    • Prepare and present regular project status reports to stakeholders.
  • Technical Quality & Risk Management (30%):
    • Develop and implement quality management plans adhering to organizational and industry standards.
    • Identify, assess, and manage project risks, developing and implementing mitigation plans.
    • Conduct regular quality reviews and audits, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborative Communications (20%):
    • Facilitate regular meetings with project team members and provide updates to senior management.
    • Manage communication with external vendors and consultants, ensuring project requirements are understood and met.
    • Support the Corporate Technical Steering Committee - Prepare comprehensive project reports, risk assessments, and status updates.
  • Technical Support & Operations (20%):
    • Plan and implement technical support strategies for the go-live phase and post go-live operations.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly to ensure system stability and performance.
    • Develop strategies for ongoing technical support, system maintenance, and optimization.
  • Financial & Human Resource Management (20%):
    • Oversee and manage the technical components of the project budget.
    • Manage assigned project resources, including technical analysts and application specialists, ensuring adequate staffing levels.
    • Track project expenditures and provide input on cost-saving opportunities and potential financial risks.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • Certification in project management (PMP preferred).
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in technical project management within an acute healthcare setting.
  • Proven experience with Meditech Expanse technical integration, implementation, and operations, especially within a cloud environment.
  • Strong understanding of technical workflows and requirements within various hospital departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement project plans for technical aspects.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Proficiency with computer systems such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and project management tools.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team of direct reports.
  • Experience in financial management, including tracking expenditures and managing budgets.
  • Excellent people skills with the ability to manage interpersonal relationships and resolve conflicts.
