About the Role:

Great Canadian Entertainment is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Building Operations Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our facilities team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our building and maintaining a safe and healthy environment for our employees and guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Building Operator in carrying out day-to-day operations and maintenance programs to ensure uninterrupted operations and asset integrity.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of all building equipment and systems, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Perform daily rounds and record readings for all major equipment, documenting and inspecting for irregularities in readings.
  • Review and complete daily entries into the engineer's log, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of maintenance activities.
  • Complete preventive and demand maintenance tasks, including chemical water treatment, filter changes, belt replacement, lubrications, and cleaning of utility rooms.
  • Start-up and shutdown major building equipment as required or directed, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
  • Inspect, operate, maintain, and repair mechanical and electrical systems, including boilers, chillers, HVAC equipment, pumps, generators, and uninterruptible power supplies.
  • Monitor electrical power distribution systems and building automation systems, responding to alarms in a timely and methodical manner.
  • Respond to service requests and maintenance demands, recording data and ensuring completed work meets quality and response requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining preventative maintenance programs, work orders, and building inspections in Building Engines.
  • Assist with inventory management of materials and supplies for maintenance activities.
  • Track and record all meter consumption data, providing insights for energy efficiency and cost savings.
  • Provide assistance in coordinating on-site construction projects, ensuring minimal disruption to building operations.
  • Assist with reporting the status of maintenance and repair work, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines related to environmental, health, and safety, as well as fire protection.
  • Be available for on-call/standby and emergency call-out as required, demonstrating a commitment to 24/7 building operations.
  • Review and have a thorough understanding of building drawings, floor plans, and mechanical and electrical layouts, valve schedules, and panels.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and maintain positive relations with employees, guests, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and demonstrate safe lifting techniques.

Requirements:

  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent, or combination of work experience and education.
  • Experience in a related field, with formal training in one or more of the related trade professions, an asset.
  • First Aid and Building Environmental Systems (BES) Class 2 working towards Class 1 certification required.
  • Working at heights training an asset.
  • Experience working with power tools.
  • Strong organizational, customer service, interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Positive attitude toward all aspects of Environment, Health, and Safety.
  • Knowledge of national and industry codes, regulatory governance, and standards, such as WHMIS.
  • Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook) required.
  • Ability to obtain registration as a Category 2 Gaming Assistant with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.
  • Bilingual (English/French) an asset but not required.

  • Flexible schedule that adapts to the business needs of a 24-hour operation, including non-traditional work hours, evening, and weekend shifts.
