William Osler Health System is seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team. As a Medical Laboratory Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results, which are essential for patient care and treatment.
Key Responsibilities:- Verify laboratory results for accuracy and investigate unexpected abnormalities
- Perform maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment
- Monitor quality control results and respond to discordant results
- Ensure proper specimen collection, handling, and storage
- Refer discordant findings to appropriate personnel for further investigation
- Assist with bone marrow collections and process in-house and send-out test requests
- Monitor temperature and expiry dates of blood and blood component products
- Issue blood and blood component products
- Participate in laboratory quality management and process improvements
- Graduate of an accredited medical laboratory technology program or equivalent education
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario
- Minimum two years recent experience in a hospital laboratory setting or completion of relevant education/refresher courses within the past two years
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain high productivity, competence, and professionalism
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Proven ability to work as a team player and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of Meditech, Paradigm, and other Microsoft Office computer systems
- Excellent attendance, punctuality, and work ethic
