Job Title: Building Service Worker II

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Building Service Worker II to join our team at the G.R. Pearkes Recreation Centre. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing maintenance work in the general operation and service maintenance of ice arenas and other associated buildings and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform various maintenance functions involving ice making and resurfacing, building equipment maintenance and repair, custodial and cleaning tasks, and minor painting as required.
  • Ensure the maintenance of ice arenas and other facilities to meet health and safety standards.
  • Operate and maintain refrigeration equipment, including ice resurfacing machines.
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance tasks to prevent equipment failures and ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with other team members to achieve maintenance goals and objectives.

Requirements:

  • Grade 11 or equivalent education.
  • Building Service Worker Level 2: Hard Floor Care certification.
  • Refrigerator Operator certification (RO).
  • Over three months and up to six months related experience.
  • WHMIS certification valid within 1 year.
  • Occupational First Aid Level 1 certification.
  • A valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence.
  • Satisfactory police information check (with Vulnerable Sector).
  • Sufficient physical strength to perform the work and stamina to work varying shifts.
