Position Overview:

The District of Saanich, a prominent municipality in the Greater Victoria area, is seeking dedicated individuals for the role of Building Service Worker I or Building Service Worker II. Our organization prides itself on fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment, which is essential for attracting and retaining top talent.

About the Role:

The successful candidates will be responsible for performing essential maintenance tasks related to the operation and upkeep of swimming pools and associated facilities. The Building Service Worker II will specifically handle various maintenance duties, including building repairs, managing swimming pool heating and filtration systems, as well as custodial responsibilities.

Qualifications for Building Service Worker I:

  • Completion of Grade 11 or equivalent
  • Certification as a Building Service Worker Level 1
  • Certification in hard floor and carpet care as necessary
  • A minimum of three months of relevant experience
  • Valid WHMIS certification within the last year
  • Occupational First Aid Level I certification as required
  • Ice Facility Operators Certificate (IFO) as required
  • Successful completion of a Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector check (PIC-VS)

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Qualifications for Building Service Worker II:

  • Completion of Grade 11 or equivalent
  • Pool Operators I and II Qualification
  • Valid WHMIS certification within the last year
  • Occupational First Aid Level I certification as required
  • Experience ranging from over three months to six months in a related field
  • Successful completion of a Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector check (PIC-VS)
  • Physical capability to perform the required tasks and stamina for varied shifts

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.

Work Schedule:

The selected candidates must demonstrate flexibility in their availability, as shifts may include days, afternoons, evenings, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays. Please note that shift schedules may be adjusted based on operational needs.
