Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Practical Nurse to join our team at Halton Healthcare. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply the nursing process to acute medical patients with complex renal and stroke issues, including end-stage renal disease, peritoneal dialysis, acute stroke, and TIAs.
  • Assume responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient transition through the continuum of care, patient and family education, and supporting factors that impact customer satisfaction.
  • Administer medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines.
  • Document observations, assessments, and changes in patient's condition; collaborate with health team members to facilitate positive patient care outcomes.
  • Provide a full range of nursing care to patients, including aseptic technique, suctioning, wound care, and IV insertion.
Requirements
  • Current Registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current Heart & Stroke approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire.
  • Current acute inpatient medicine experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a neurology and/or nephrology environment preferred.
  • Demonstrates commitment to continuing education.
  • Required skills include aseptic technique, suctioning, wound care, and IV insertion.
  • Experience with medication administration required.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player with strong public relations and organizational skills.
  • Caring, compassionate attitude with patients, families, and co-workers.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of this position.
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record required.
