Position Overview

As a Senior Animation Designer at Ubisoft Toronto, you will be an integral part of a production team working on critically acclaimed games like Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six.

Your role involves crafting animations for various characters and objects, where you will consistently consider the intent behind movements and the behavior of subjects. You will appreciate how each animation contributes to the overall experience of the game, transforming months of intricate mechanics and creative decisions into a captivating piece of art that immerses players in a vibrant world.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize animation principles to produce high-quality animations while optimizing them to adhere to technical specifications and making adjustments as per artistic direction;
  • Collaborate with team members from different disciplines to conceptualize animation systems that fulfill game requirements, and effectively document and communicate these systems to less experienced colleagues;
  • Work closely with the art director, game designers, and programmers to grasp quality goals, gameplay intentions, and engine capabilities, ensuring the animations align with in-game aesthetics;
  • Assist in estimating the time needed for your tasks in collaboration with your supervisor, managing your time efficiently to meet deadlines;
  • Identify and report any animation-related challenges to your immediate supervisor;
  • Quickly prototype animation systems that will facilitate discussions regarding animation and gameplay;
  • Perform additional related tasks as required.
Qualifications

What You Bring

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in video game animation or a related field;
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with all disciplines and enhance team visuals;
  • Proficiency in animation software such as Motion Builder, 3ds Max, or Maya;
  • An artistic perspective and a keen sense of composition;
  • A passion for innovation while understanding the importance of cohesive teamwork.
