About the Role

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a key member of our care team, responsible for coordinating and supervising the activities and duties of those who deliver direct resident care. As a RN, you will be the role model and team leader who ensures the highest quality of care is provided to our residents.

Responsibilities
  • Assess residents' needs and implement individualized care plans to maximize their quality of life.
  • Support LPNs in reviewing and updating care plans as required, and provide clinical decision-making support to the care team.
  • Administer medications and treatments as per established standards and regulations.
  • Manage community wounds, assist LPNs with assessment and treatment, and facilitate referrals to wound care specialists as needed.
  • Provide direct care to residents as necessary and collaborate with other disciplines and departments to ensure quality-focused resident care.
  • Liaise with physicians, community agencies, families, visitors, and volunteers to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Support the move-in process and work collaboratively with other team members to ensure a smooth transition for residents.
  • Attend care conferences and ensure residents' rights are observed and respected.
  • Maintain a safe environment for residents, family, and staff by adhering to infection control procedures and reporting any necessary repairs.
  • Coordinate and supervise care staff, direct their work, and assign duties as necessary to ensure resident-focused care is provided.
  • Provide clinical direction to community care staff and fulfill clinical on-call duties as required.
  • Perform community audits and correlate data to submit to the Director of Care or designate.
  • Participate in orientation of new employees and provide educational materials and direction on procedures to clinical staff.
  • Actively participate in community programs, meetings, committees, and educational in-services.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Graduate of an approved program for Nursing and holds a current license with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as an RN.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing an asset.
  • Valid Occupational First Aid Level 1 certification and CPR.
  • Successful annual Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) competency testing.
  • Previous experience in a long-term care facility an asset.
  • All successful applicants must pass the vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check applicable to Provincial guidelines.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently and understand verbal and written instructions.
  • Computer skills including the ability to navigate basic computer programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Must be in good health, physically able to perform repetitive tasks, lift, squat, bend, stand, and walk as required to perform the duties of the position.
