The **Deputy Controller** will oversee all financial and accounting functions within the organization. This role encompasses managing financial reporting, supervising external audits, directing accounting operations, and developing and maintaining financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards for publicly traded entities. The Deputy Controller will collaborate closely with the Vice President of Finance and other senior leaders to facilitate strategic decision-making and uphold the financial integrity of the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
  • Guarantee accurate and timely reporting to regulatory authorities, including the SEC and Canadian securities regulators.
  • Conduct comprehensive financial analyses and provide insights to support business decisions.
  • Manage all external audits and coordinate with external auditors and the Audit Committee.
  • Lead, mentor, and cultivate a high-performing finance and accounting team.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team.
  • Contribute to the formulation and execution of financial policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align with organizational objectives.
  • Partner with the CFO and executive team to devise and implement the company's strategic initiatives.
  • Offer financial insights and recommendations to bolster growth initiatives, mergers and acquisitions, and other strategic projects.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. CPA, CMA, or CA designation is mandatory.
  • An MBA or advanced degree in finance or business administration is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity.
  • Experience in a publicly traded organization, ideally with dual listings.
  • A proven track record of managing financial operations for a company with revenues exceeding $1 billion.
  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS and Canadian & US securities regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and inspire a diverse team.
  • High integrity and ethical standards.
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
