Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team at BC Mental Health and Substance Use Services in Coquitlam, BC. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in assessing and treating clients with complex mental health and substance use challenges.
Key Responsibilities:- Assess clients using an evidence-based approach, considering their personal context, goals, interests, needs, safety, environment, and resources.
- Plan and implement occupational therapy services, collaborating with clients, caregivers, and other healthcare providers to address occupational performance issues.
- Implement diverse intervention approaches, engaging clients in activities associated with occupational roles and goals, and assessing and modifying implementation as needed.
- Use professional knowledge and skills to manage a complex caseload, coordinating care and applying case management principles.
- Provide education and counseling to clients and families regarding functional and rehabilitation issues, and provide information and guidance to other caregivers and healthcare providers.
- Baccalaureate in Occupational Therapy.
- Two years' recent, related experience working in a psychiatric setting with individuals who have complex mental health and addictions issues.
- Current full registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia (COTBC).
- Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT).
