Position Overview

The Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing a team of Quality Control personnel, ensuring the effective execution of critical quality tasks and responsibilities. This role involves frequent monitoring of work to guarantee that Quality Control goals and responsibilities are achieved. Additionally, the Supervisor will engage in individual tasks pertinent to the unit and act as a technical resource for established assays, applying sound judgment within defined practices and policies to select appropriate methods and techniques for problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for planning, scheduling, and prioritizing workloads to meet operational demands in the designated Quality Control area.
  • May lead laboratory investigations and oversee the development of investigation reports.
  • Utilizes analytical data and statistical concepts, such as SPC and regression analysis, to comprehend variables affecting assay and process performance. Investigates unusual trends and assists in troubleshooting testing procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with quality standards and adherence to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
  • Applies expertise to facilitate change and risk management, incorporating scientific and technical innovations.
  • Coordinates the preparation of reports and maintains records related to the operation of the work unit, ensuring reliability and accuracy for regulatory submissions or inspections.
  • Leads cross-functional teams in process mapping and other initiatives aimed at enhancing process and system understanding. Initiates and coordinates complex projects with other departments to achieve objectives.
  • Mentors employees through diverse challenges, directing them to complete assignments in line with established guidelines and policies.
  • Provides performance coaching and routine feedback to employees, acting as an advisor to resolve issues and meet business objectives.
  • Facilitates development opportunities for staff through training, development plans, and participation in challenging activities, applying leadership principles.
  • Collaborates with management, team members, and cross-functional peers to align on sound quality decisions.
  • Promotes workforce diversity, safety, and adherence to company core values.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts may be required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, complemented by a bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possesses a broad scope of technical knowledge to assist with modeling, complex troubleshooting, drafting method validation protocols, and investigating complex deviations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of GMP, WHMIS, and biohazard safety protocols.
  • Scientific knowledge of standard practices within the assigned area.
  • Familiarity with supervisory practices and techniques.
  • Aptitude for conducting investigative interviews.
