Position Overview

The Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing a team of Quality Control personnel, ensuring the effective execution of critical quality functions and assigned responsibilities. This role includes frequent evaluations of work to guarantee that Quality Control goals and obligations are achieved. A portion of the Supervisor's time will be dedicated to performing specific tasks within the unit. Additionally, the Supervisor acts as a technical resource for established assays and applies sound judgment in selecting appropriate methods and techniques for problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for planning, scheduling, and prioritizing workloads to meet operational needs in the designated Quality Control area.

• May lead laboratory investigations and oversee the preparation of investigation reports.

• Utilizes analytical data and statistical concepts, such as SPC and regression analysis, to understand variables affecting assay and process performance. Investigates unusual trends and assists in troubleshooting testing procedures.

• Ensures compliance with quality standards and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).

• Applies expertise to support change and risk management, including the implementation of scientific and technical innovations.

• Initiates or coordinates the preparation of reports and maintains records related to the operation of the work unit, ensuring they are suitable for regulatory review or inspection. Ensures the reliability and accuracy of both electronic databases and physical files.

• Leads cross-functional teams in process mapping and other initiatives aimed at enhancing process and system understanding. Coordinates complex projects with other departments and collaborates with personnel from various departments to achieve objectives.

• Guides employees through diverse challenges where analysis of situations or data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Directs team members to complete tasks following established guidelines and policies.

• Provides coaching to employees regarding performance and offers regular feedback. Acts as an advisor to the unit and resolves issues to meet business goals.

• Facilitates development opportunities for staff through training, development plans, and participation in challenging activities while applying leadership principles.

• Collaborates with management, team members, internal customers, and cross-functional peers to ensure alignment on quality decisions.

• Promotes workforce diversity, safety, and adherence to company core values.

• Flexibility to work days, evenings, or nights may be required.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, along with a bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Requires extensive technical knowledge to assist with modeling or design, complex troubleshooting, drafting method validation protocols, and investigating intricate deviations.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.

• Comprehensive understanding of GMP, WHMIS, and biohazard safety protocols.

• Scientific knowledge of standard practices in the relevant field.

• Familiarity with supervisory practices and techniques.

• Capability to conduct investigative interviews.


• A pre-employment and annual medical assessment is required for this position.
