We are seeking a highly skilled Senior SQL Server Database Administrator to join our team at Monzek Consulting. As a key member of our data management team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining large-scale SQL Server databases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Database Design and Administration: Develop and implement physical database designs, administer and optimize SQL Server databases, including installation, migration, performance tuning, and backup/recovery.
  • Configuration and Security: Manage configuration, security, and operation of SQL Servers, focusing on SQL Managed Instances and Azure Cloud.
  • Database Management: Develop and execute database expansions, reorganizations, and purging. Monitor data quality, diagnose problems, and implement solutions.
  • Cloud and Data Integration: Oversee SQL databases in Azure Cloud, manage high availability options, and support cross-platform migrations and data governance activities.
  • Technical Strategy: Participate in the long-term technical strategy and architecture for Data Warehouse and Analytics Data Hub. Provide guidance and support for hybrid on-premise and cloud-based environments.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Transfer: Ensure knowledge transfer to the Ontario Health team, including documentation and code/configuration reviews. Conduct software evaluations and disaster recovery design.
Requirements
  • Experience: 5-7 years as a SQL Server Database Administrator (Azure and on-prem).
  • Certifications: MS Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900T00), Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals (DP-900), and Administering Microsoft Azure SQL Solutions (DP-300).
  • Skills: Proficiency with SQL Server Management Studio, database verification, and capacity planning. Experience with cloud technologies, especially Azure.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: DCS / DEC (preferred).
  • Experience: Azure Synapse Analytics/Managed Instance, Azure SQL DB: 2 years (required).
  • Licence/Certification: MS Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900T00), Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals (DP-900), and Administering Microsoft Azure SQL Solutions (DP-300) (required).
Work Environment

This is a hybrid remote position in Toronto, ON M5V 1R5.
