About the Role

Rogers Communications is seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator to join our Technology team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and administering our database systems, ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Database Design and Administration: Design and implement database solutions using SQL Server, MariaDB, and PostGreSQL, ensuring data integrity, security, and performance.
  • Collaboration and Code Optimization: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and optimize SQL code, ensuring optimal application performance and user experience.
  • Security and Compliance: Adhere to best practices for database design, performance, and security, including user management and database access.
  • Disaster Recovery and Backup: Develop and maintain database disaster recovery plans and related documentation.
  • Incident and Problem Management: Provide incident and problem management support, implementing infrastructure and database changes as needed.
  • 24/7 Emergency Support: Provide emergency support for SQL platforms, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
  • Technology Research and Development: Stay up-to-date with new database technologies, analyzing and implementing emerging solutions to enhance existing infrastructure.
Requirements
  • 10+ Years of Experience: Proven experience working with SQL Server versions 2000-2019, with a strong background in database administration.
  • Advanced SQL Skills: Expertise in complex T-SQL queries, triggers, and database performance tuning.
  • Database Monitoring and Security: Experience with SQL Server monitoring tools, such as Idera Diagnostic Manager, and advanced knowledge of database security and permissions.
  • Scripting and Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages, such as PERL, Python, or Shell Scripting.
  • PostGreSQL and MariaDB Administration: Experience with administering PostGreSQL and MariaDB databases.
  • Excellent Communication and Documentation Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with excellent documentation skills.
Nice to Have
  • Database Administration Certification: Certification in database administration, such as Oracle Certified Professional or Microsoft Certified Database Administrator.
  • Experience as a Developer: Experience as a developer, with exposure to SAP Data warehousing.
