Position Overview:

As the Project Site Supervisor, you will report directly to the Director of Legacy Properties. Your primary objective will be to uphold and enhance the company's reputation and financial interests through the effective management of Teck's Legacy Properties. This role offers the chance to develop and execute a comprehensive closure strategy for the Tulsequah Chief site, yielding significant environmental and community benefits while also strengthening governmental relations.

Your responsibilities will encompass the stewardship and enhancement of closure practices across various Legacy Property sites in Canada, as well as providing closure planning assistance to Teck's operational teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Exhibit strong leadership in safety practices, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and procedures.
  • Guarantee the safety and well-being of all personnel, including contractors, on-site.
  • Oversee the timely completion of health and safety documentation and training for field operations.
  • Provide strategic direction for site investigations, technical studies, and closure planning, ensuring rigorous engineering standards are met.
  • Collaborate closely with the Senior Advisor, Closure, to manage the execution of technical studies, ensuring closure options are viable and integrated.
  • Lead and develop a cohesive site team, providing clear guidance and support to multidisciplinary staff and contractors.
  • Engage with subject matter experts across Teck to leverage internal knowledge and resources effectively.
  • Make informed decisions to mitigate risks and manage costs, maintaining open communication with senior leadership.
  • Prepare detailed annual budgets and long-term financial forecasts, ensuring comprehensive project documentation is maintained.
  • Manage all aspects of contract preparation and oversight, ensuring effective contractor management.
  • Foster relationships with Indigenous communities and other stakeholders, ensuring commitments to capacity building and employment opportunities are met.
  • Support regulatory processes, including advising on permitting and developing agreements with regulatory bodies.
  • Conduct thorough internal and external reporting as required.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in project or site management within relevant fields such as environmental, mining, or engineering.
  • A degree in Engineering or Science related to Environmental, Mining, Civil, or Mechanical disciplines.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., P.Eng, RPF, PBio, PAg) are advantageous.
  • Extensive knowledge of British Columbia's environmental legislation and permitting processes.
  • BC Mines Supervisor Certification is mandatory; BC Shift Boss certification is preferred.
  • Proven leadership skills with a track record of building and directing diverse teams.
  • Highly organized, capable of managing complex projects and competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
