Financial Operations Clerk at Merrithew International

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual eager to advance their career in finance. As a Financial Operations Clerk, your primary responsibilities will encompass daily Accounts Receivable tasks, including cash application, customer statement reconciliations, and credit note issuance. Additionally, you will assist the Accounts Payable team with invoice processing, purchase order matching, and account reconciliation.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Receivable:

  • Process daily cash receipts through various methods (EFT, wire transfers, checks, credit cards).
  • Monitor aging accounts, follow up on overdue balances, and communicate with relevant parties.
  • Distribute customer invoices and monthly statements; generate credit notes as necessary.
  • Prepare daily bank deposits and assist with customer inquiries regarding billing and payment discrepancies.
  • Support month-end closing activities.

Accounts Payable:

  • Verify and organize supporting documentation (purchase orders, goods receipts, supplier invoices).
  • Enter vendor invoices into the system.
  • Follow up on invoice approvals and resolve any disputes.
  • Review vendor statements to ascertain invoice status and liaise with vendors as needed.
  • Assist in filing essential payables documentation and gather information for weekly cheque runs.

Required Skills:

  • 1-3 years of experience in Accounts Receivable and/or Accounts Payable.
  • Proficient in MS Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with AccPac/Sage 300 ERP or similar platforms is preferred.
  • Customer-oriented mindset with excellent organizational and coordination abilities.
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks and see them through to completion.
  • General accounting knowledge, including accounts receivable and reconciliation, is advantageous.
  • Experience with major retail clients is a plus.
