Wetland Ecologist

Tetra Tech is seeking a highly skilled Wetland Ecologist to join our team in Calgary or Edmonton. As a key member of our environmental team, you will be responsible for conducting biophysical assessments, developing environmental protection plans, and providing senior review for reports prepared by junior team members.
Responsibilities- Develop and conduct biophysical assessments with a focus on vegetation, wetlands, and soils.
- Prepare reports, conduct reviews, and analysis.
- Provide senior review for reports prepared by juniors.
- Develop environmental protection/mitigation plans.
- Prepare proposals, including scopes of work, budget estimates, and formal RFP submissions.
- Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals and technical experts in biology and environmental science.
- Contribute to ongoing project management best practice implementation.
- Stay current on technical and sector-based trends and legislation at the municipal, provincial, and national level.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in biology, environmental sciences, or a related field.
- Professional designation (i.e., P.Biol or equivalent), with a minimum of 10 years of experience.
- Strong knowledge and practice in wetlands in the Prairies, including assessments, mitigation, and monitoring.
- Be a wetland practitioner as directed under the Alberta Wetland Policy with Authenticating Professional designation.
- Demonstrated proficiency with industry standard resources, tools, and best practices, as well as provincial environmental legislation and policy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with clients, regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and the public.
- A strong track record in Health and Safety management.
- Ability to travel and work in remote locations.
