Position Overview:
This role presents an exciting opportunity within the rapidly evolving transportation technology sector. The public transit landscape is shifting from traditional fixed-route systems to innovative on-demand networks, and you will play a crucial role in this transformation.
You will be part of a dynamic, agile team responsible for managing RideCo's cloud and internal engineering infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess a strong enthusiasm for developing top-tier infrastructure and a proven history of creating highly available, scalable, automated, and distributed systems. Essential skills include robust systems experience, excellent communication abilities, and a capacity for providing and receiving constructive feedback on technical designs and implementations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, construct, and oversee both cloud-based and in-house infrastructure.
- Lead architectural enhancements to boost performance and reliability.
- Develop and implement monitoring and alerting systems, fostering a culture of awareness.
- Create or integrate tools that facilitate development and deployment processes.
- Architect real-time distributed applications with high availability.
- Work with a variety of technology stacks, including both stateful and stateless services.
- Enhance the platform's auto-scaling and self-healing functionalities.
- Optimize cloud resource utilization to balance performance and cost efficiency.
- Plan and carry out operating system and application upgrades in the cloud environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Over 5 years of experience in software development environments.
- Proficient in system administration, particularly with Linux.
- Experience with CI/CD practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins).
- Background in building and maintaining highly available distributed applications.
- Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana).
- Expertise in cloud services (e.g., AWS, EC2, ECS, RDS).
- Strong inclination towards automation practices (e.g., Infrastructure as Code, Terraform).
- Proficient scripting skills with experience in developing diverse and robust tooling (e.g., Python, Shell).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Python and web application frameworks (e.g., Django, Flask).
- Knowledge of web server deployments and performance optimization (e.g., nginx).
- Familiarity with container-based build systems (e.g., Docker, CI/CD pipelines).
- Experience with databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Redis).
- Understanding of high availability caching solutions (e.g., Redis, nginx proxy).
- Experience with distributed task queues (e.g., RabbitMQ).
- Knowledge of container orchestration technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, ECS).
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
- Enthusiasm for acquiring new skills and knowledge in emerging domains.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Base Salary: $120,000-$150,000 plus performance-based bonuses and stock options.
