Position Overview:

We are currently seeking an Early Learning Facilitator to assist with the Ontario Autism Program (OAP) Entry to School initiative. This role may also extend support to the EarlyON Child and Family Centre programs managed by Empower Simcoe as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilizing a child and family-centered, collaborative service delivery model to prepare children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) for a successful transition to school.
  • Facilitating experiences that enable children to thrive in a classroom setting by offering opportunities and instruction that enhance their skills for optimal academic success.
  • Contributing to the creation of an Integrated Individual Education and Family Service Plan that aligns with the family's aspirations and goals, while incorporating all Early Intervention partners involved with the child.

Contract Details:

This is a contract role lasting 13 months, with the potential for extension.

Compensation Package:

  • Work up to 37.5 hours weekly;
  • Starting pay rate of $28.73 per hour;
  • 11 paid statutory holidays;

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possession of an Early Childhood Education diploma or degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience recognized by the College of Early Childhood Educators.
  • Registered member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
  • A minimum of two years' experience working with families and children, particularly those with an ASD diagnosis, alongside community partners in the Early Learning sector and educational professionals.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating sound judgment, diplomacy, and active listening.
  • Ability to assess child and family strengths using various evaluation tools.
  • Familiarity with current Ministry of Education pedagogical practices and policies, including the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014.
  • Bilingual candidates in French, Spanish, Portuguese, Tamil, or Urdu are preferred.

Special Considerations:

  • Flexibility in working hours is required.
  • A valid Class G driver's License and reliable transportation are necessary.
  • Maintenance of relevant certifications and licenses related to the field is expected.
  • Willingness to travel to various service locations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team to implement the Entry to School program through the OAP.
  • Designing program plans that incorporate play and inquiry-based learning, recognizing that all children are competent, capable thinkers, curious, and full of potential.
  • Ensuring programs promote belonging, well-being, engagement, and expression for all children, parents, and caregivers.
  • Planning both individual and group activities that support development across all domains.
  • Assisting children in developing independence in self-care routines.
  • Engaging parents and caregivers in discussions about child development, parenting, nutrition, play, and inquiry-based learning.
  • Providing targeted outreach to specific populations, including newcomers, teen parents, families facing financial challenges, and others.
  • Completing assessments, checklists, and documentation efficiently and promptly.
