Position Overview
The Accounts Receivable and Tax Specialist plays a crucial role within the Finance Department of the Shishalh Nation. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, this position is responsible for managing the accounts receivable functions and supporting taxation processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate and dispatch invoices to suppliers and community members.
- Process incoming invoices and payments efficiently.
- Reconcile financial transactions and address any discrepancies.
- Monitor client accounts for overdue payments and conduct follow-ups as necessary.
- Maintain precise records of all financial transactions.
- Assist in month-end closing procedures and financial reporting tasks.
- Provide necessary support to the finance team as required.
- Offer information regarding by-laws and departmental regulations to the public.
- Ensure the collection of taxes while maintaining standard office records.
- Review various materials for accuracy and completeness.
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in accounts receivable, including client invoicing, collections, and reconciliations.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and composure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and creative problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in a municipal setting is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated skills in prioritization, time management, and effective communication, fostering a positive team environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- A valid driver's license and a clean Criminal Record Check are required.
