H55 is solidifying its role as a key player in the electric aviation sector, having successfully integrated and operated four electric aircraft, secured numerous Canadian clients, and announced a new facility.

Role Overview

In the context of developing our Electric Propulsion System and Modular Battery Pack, H55 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer.
In this position, you will utilize your technical knowledge to design intricate mechanical systems while also mentoring and guiding our engineering team.

Your key responsibilities will encompass:

  • Creating lightweight, production-friendly, and cost-effective designs.
  • Assisting the Team Lead with design evaluations, mentoring team members, and fostering a collaborative and innovative work atmosphere.
  • Ensuring compliance with aerospace regulatory standards, emphasizing safety and performance.
  • Validating your designs through rigorous engineering methodologies and calculations.
  • Reviewing technical documents such as drawings, schematics, and bills of materials essential for manufacturing, testing, and commissioning.
  • Defining testing protocols to ensure the accuracy and advancement of simulation models and technology validation.
  • Overseeing and addressing problem reports and change requests.
  • Providing critical support to production by analyzing deviation requests.
  • Assisting suppliers by responding to technical inquiries within established design guidelines.
Candidate Profile
  • A university degree with 7-10 years of experience in the design and validation of mechanical components and assemblies, particularly in electronic unit design.
  • Experience in designing for mass production is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong inclination towards technical mentoring and team development.
  • Demonstrated project management capabilities with a track record of leading complex projects.
  • Familiarity with Airworthiness Certification Specifications (e.g., EASA CS-23 or FAA Part 23) and industry standards is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, particularly Autodesk Inventor.
  • Experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is valued, with expertise in the Ansys suite being an asset.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, especially machining and plastic molding.
  • Hands-on experience in prototyping, testing, and manufacturing.
  • A proactive self-starter with a strong focus on organization and detail.
  • A commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English, with proficiency in French being a plus.
  • This position may involve occasional travel to headquarters.
