Job Summary

The National Arts Centre is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Banquet Captain to join our Food and Beverage team. As a key member of our events team, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of banquets and events, ensuring seamless execution and exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Event Planning and Coordination: Work closely with clients to understand their needs and preferences, and coordinate with internal teams to ensure seamless execution of events.
  • Team Management: Supervise and direct a team of banquet staff, providing guidance and support to ensure excellent customer service and event execution.
  • Inventory Management: Track and manage inventory, including food, beverages, and supplies, to ensure accurate reporting and billing.
  • Communication and Liaison: Liaise with internal departments, including housekeeping and maintenance, to ensure that facilities are clean and well-maintained.
  • Reporting and Administration: Prepare and submit reports to management, including event details, inventory management, and billing information.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certifications: Smart Serve certification.
  • Language: Bilingual in English and French.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role, supervising staff in an unionized environment.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and customer service skills, ability to work under pressure, and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, push/pull carts weighing up to 100 lbs, and stand for up to 12 hours.
