Role Summary

The Student Development Coordinator is tasked with the design, coordination, and execution of a variety of programs, projects, and activities aimed at supporting residents and student staff in their academic, personal, and interpersonal development. Reporting to the Manager of Education and Training, the Coordinator will create co-curricular programming that aligns with the strategic objectives of the Residence Services unit within the Department of Student Services.

This position plays a vital role in offering opportunities for engagement, promoting academic achievement, and facilitating impactful transformative experiences for students residing and working in residence. This is achieved through large-scale programming and engagement initiatives, the development of a programming framework grounded in relevant theories (such as student development and learning theories), and the management of all aspects of the Residence Resource HUB. The HUB serves as a center for programming activities within residence, featuring flexible co-curricular spaces and the Program Resource Centre (PRC). It is utilized by Residence Life and Education professionals as well as campus and community collaborators.

The Coordinator is expected to cultivate and sustain enduring partnerships with campus and community stakeholders, while also supporting professional and paraprofessional staff related to programming. Direct supervision of four to six Program Resource Centre Advisors (PRCAs) is required, along with guidance and support for Senior Community Leaders (SCLs) and indirect support for Residence Education Community Leaders (RECLs), Community Leaders (CLs), Summer Community Assistants (SCAs), and volunteer Residence Orientation Leaders (ROLs). Supervision of co-op and work-study students may also be necessary.

Additionally, the Coordinator is responsible for training and supporting para-professional staff regarding programming, collaborating with campus partners and stakeholders, and implementing effective evaluation tools. Beyond coordinating residence-wide programs for Residence Life, this position also oversees large-scale events for Residence Services, including recognition activities and banquets.

Qualifications

This position necessitates a minimum of an undergraduate degree along with at least three years of experience in program development, implementation, and event planning within a higher education or similar context. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
