Job Title: Community Support Worker

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Community Support Worker to join our team at PHS Community Services Society.

About the Role

This is a casual position that requires a unique blend of cultural understanding, communication skills, and a commitment to harm reduction principles. As a Community Support Worker, you will work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to provide a range of services, including harm reduction, overdose prevention, and community outreach.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a welcoming and supportive environment for program participants.
  • Offer physical, emotional, social, and life skills supports to program participants.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to established guidelines.
  • Perform overdose prevention and interventions within established guidelines.
  • Collaborate with team members to problem-solve and provide support.
  • Engage in community needs assessment and communicate questions and concerns to management.
Requirements
  • Lived experience of the challenges faced by program participants.
  • Grade 12 education or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
  • Basic verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain regular hours of work and organize tasks.
  • Overdose prevention and intervention training.
  • CPR/AED certification.
