Main Responsibilities

The individual in this role will regularly oversee the ward, providing effective professional and managerial guidance to all team members in the absence of the Sister.

Responsibilities include delivering all relevant care services while upholding a high standard of nursing practice in accordance with Trust policies.

The role involves teaching and supervising both qualified and unqualified staff, including basic and post-basic students, returning nursing students, and healthcare assistants.

Additionally, the post holder will conduct clinical audits and implement improvements to the ward environment based on findings. Participation in quality assurance and enhancement initiatives is expected, as well as collaboration with the senior nursing team to ensure safety and progress.

Experience Requirements

Essential:

  • Experience in a NIC role and coordinating shifts.
  • Experience as a Band 6 or Band 5 nurse.
  • Experience in teaching healthcare assistants, students, and qualified staff.

Desirable:

  • Experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Previous experience working with elderly patients.

Rehabilitation Knowledge

Essential:

  • Understanding of frailty and rehabilitation within the community.

Education and Qualifications

Essential:

  • Good general education.
  • Registered Nurse (Level 1).
  • ENB 998 or equivalent qualification.
  • Completion of a First Line Management Course.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.

Desirable:

  • Diploma in Nursing.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and the multi-disciplinary team in English.

  • Competency in IV drug administration and infusion pump operation.
