Located in the heart of Hamilton, our facility provides cutting-edge medical services and hosts several regional referral programs. Our neurosciences and trauma program is a provincial leader in both the volume and complexity of care delivered. The stroke program at our facility has set a benchmark for integrated care, while our burn treatment unit is one of only two in the province. Additionally, our cardiac and vascular program conducts the highest number of heart surgeries and procedures in Ontario.

The MRI Department is dedicated to delivering high-quality magnetic resonance imaging services essential for diagnosing and managing a variety of medical conditions. Utilizing state-of-the-art MRI technology, this department generates detailed images of internal body structures, facilitating precise diagnosis and treatment planning.

Position Overview

As an integral member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, the Registered MRI Technologist is responsible for coordinating, executing, and assessing Diagnostic Services examinations while collaborating with various healthcare professionals, including nurses, physicians, and allied health staff. The MRI Technologist operates advanced scanners and software, mentors clinical and technical associates and students in a research and educational environment, and delivers care aligned with the core values of respect, compassion, innovation, and accountability. The MRI department is equipped with modern technology, including the latest Siemens Sola Scanner and updated software.

Our Diagnostic Services team caters to a diverse patient population, including both adults and children, providing services around the clock, seven days a week. The Diagnostic Services at Hamilton Health Sciences encompass X-Ray, CT Scan, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, PET, Ultrasound, and Interventional Radiology.

Work Schedule

Shifts may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, with standby as necessary.

Qualifications

- Completion of an accredited training program in Magnetic Resonance Imaging

- Certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging with the CAMRT

- Current registration in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)

- Preferred membership in CAMRT/OAMRT

- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification

- Proven ability to work effectively within a team environment

- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

- Effective problem-solving abilities, critical thinking, and prioritization skills in a fast-paced clinical setting

- Evidence of ongoing education and professional development

As a condition of employment, proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required.
