Position Overview:
ErinoakKids Center for Treatment and Development is actively looking for a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse to assist children and young adults facing medical and/or behavioral challenges within our Respite Care Program. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, focusing on empowering clients as they engage in daily living activities.
Available Work Schedules:
- Rotating: Every other Saturday and Sunday from 7:00am – 7:00pm
- Every Sunday. Week 1: 7:00am – 3:00pm, Week 2: 3:00pm – 11:00pm
- Rotating overnight: Every other Friday from 7:00pm – 7:00am and Saturday from 11:00pm – 7:00am
- Rotating overnight: Every other Friday from 7:00pm – 7:00am, Saturday and Sunday from 11:00pm – 7:00am
Primary Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and execute individual client care plans;
- Communicate care plans effectively with respite staff;
- Review and document all medical records;
- Conduct assessments and address client needs;
- Deliver direct clinical care;
- Provide on-site guidance and training to respite staff as needed;
- Utilize transfer and mobility equipment;
- Follow health and safety protocols, including infection control measures;
Required Qualifications:
- Diploma in Practical Nursing is mandatory;
- Registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario;
- Prior experience in pediatric nursing;
- Experience with children having physical and developmental disabilities;
- Experience working with children and youth exhibiting challenging behaviors;
- Current C.P.R. and First Aid and CPI certification is preferred;
- Strong nursing assessment and problem-solving skills;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities;
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends;
- Enjoy working autonomously with children in a collaborative environment;
- Bilingualism in French and English is advantageous.
