Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team in the Operating Room department at Mills Memorial Hospital. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide direct patient care and assist with assessment, direct patient care, and clerical duties related to the work of the Unit.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to patients on the Medical/Surgical Unit, and possibly to other nursing units within the facility as appropriate.
  • Assist with assessment, direct patient care as assigned, and performs clerical duties related to the work of the Unit.
  • Participate in the Northern Health Regional Operating Room Education (RORE) program, which includes a 7-week course using a blended learning approach and a practicum paired with a preceptor to consolidate skills.
Education and Training

The American Operating Room Nurse's (AORN) Periop-101 course is a blended learning program that delivers standardized education on the foundational skills of perioperative nursing. The program will prepare nurses to provide safe and competent perioperative nursing care at a novice level.

Requirements
  • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN registrant.
  • Current certification.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to deal effectively with others.
  • Ability to organize work.
