Accounts Payable Specialist

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Coordinator to join our team at Ontario Teachers Insurance Plan (OTIP). As an Accounts Payable Coordinator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the timely and accurate processing of accounts payable transactions.
Key Responsibilities- Process Accounts Payable Transactions: Process daily accounts payable transactions in a timely and accurate manner, including obtaining approval from management or the business to issue payments, handling adjustments, and preparing corresponding journal entries and reports.
- Analyze and Resolve Discrepancies: Analyze discrepancies, ensure errors are corrected, and confirm accuracy prior to payment.
- Prepare Financial Reports: Gather and analyze data for weekly and monthly reporting, including preparing and processing electronic funds transfer (EFT) payment files.
- Develop and Maintain Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors and suppliers.
- Perform Financial Reconciliations: Perform monthly reconciliations of sub-ledgers to the general ledger and secure financial information through regular database back-ups.
- Assist with Prepaid Payments: Assist with processing and tracking of prepaid payments, including preparing monthly journal entries and year-end documentation.
- Identify Process Efficiencies: Identify opportunities for process efficiencies and implement changes to improve the accounts payable process.
- Education: A minimum of one year post-secondary education (training) including introductory accounting courses.
- Experience: A minimum of one year experience working in Accounts Payable and a minimum of one year experience working in an accounting department.
- Skills: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Microsoft D365; excellent attention to detail; superior time management and organizational skills; exceptional communication skills; and the ability to collect, compare, and analyze data.
- Language: The ability to communicate in French is considered an asset.
