Job Description:
Role Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Commercial Associate to join our dynamic team at PSA Halifax. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in analyzing market trends, evaluating financial data, and providing insights to support strategic decision-making within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and threats in the container port industry, utilizing industry reports and data analytics tools to inform business decisions.
  • Analyze financial data, including revenue, costs, and profitability metrics, to assess performance and identify areas for improvement, leveraging financial modeling and forecasting techniques to support business planning.
  • Develop and maintain financial models and forecasts to support business planning and decision-making processes, collaborating with commercial and finance teams to evaluate pricing strategies, customer segmentation, and market positioning.
  • Monitor competitor activity and industry developments to anticipate market changes and adjust strategies accordingly, utilizing market intelligence and industry trends to inform business decisions.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management, summarizing key findings and recommendations, and collaborating with internal stakeholders on process improvements to extract and analyze commercial and operations data.
  • Assist the Commercial Managers in the preparation of breakbulk and general cargo quotations, and support the development of commercial strategies and initiatives to drive revenue growth and enhance profitability.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on process improvements to extract and analyze commercial and operations data, and develop and create PowerBI dashboards with the support of PSA Halifax's internal data analytics team.
  • Manage PSA Halifax's customer relationship management software (Salesforce), ensuring effective data management and analysis to inform business decisions.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • Proven experience in financial analysis, market research, or strategic planning, preferably in the transport, container port industry or related logistics sector.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and draw actionable insights, and proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting techniques.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels, and detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI, and other relevant software applications, and ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence decision-makers at all levels.
