About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Cook to join our team at Granville Island Restaurant Inc. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking complete meals and individual dishes, as well as training staff in food preparation and handling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook complete meals and individual dishes, adhering to high standards of quality and presentation.
  • Train and supervise kitchen staff and helpers, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment, ensuring efficient use of resources and minimizing waste.
  • Clean and maintain kitchen and work areas, adhering to health and safety standards.
  • Organize and manage kitchen operations, including buffets and banquets, to ensure smooth and efficient service.
Requirements
  • 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent culinary skills and knowledge of food preparation and presentation.
  • Strong leadership and training skills, with the ability to motivate and supervise staff.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with attention to detail and a focus on quality.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and handle heavy loads.
