About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our team at RT Medical. As a key member of our healthcare support team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to individuals in long-term care facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers.
  • Monitor and assess residents' health conditions, identifying potential issues and taking proactive steps to address them.
  • Provide wound care and assist with dressing changes, ensuring residents' comfort and safety.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive care plans.
  • Educate residents and their families about health conditions and treatments, promoting informed decision-making.
  • Ensure residents' safety and comfort, responding promptly to emergencies and providing immediate care as needed.
  • Document residents' health status and care provided, maintaining accurate and detailed records.
  • Perform other clinical duties as required, utilizing your skills and expertise to support the care team.
Requirements
  • Diploma from a recognized RPN program or equivalent.
  • Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Experience working in a long-term care or retirement home setting is considered an asset.
  • Physical ability to stand, bend, walk, crouch, kneel, and reach, with the ability to lift 50lbs (23 kg) independently.
  • Valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR certification.
  • Updated immunization records, including completion of a two-step tuberculosis test within the last 6 months.
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector checks are required upon hire.
  • Ability to interact with others in a caring, tactful, and courteous manner.
  • Excellent problem-solving, time management, and crisis-resolution skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Valid G2/G driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle, with daily travel of more than 1 hour.
