About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled IT Controls Specialist to join our Corporate Finance team at Sun Life Financial. As a key member of our internal controls team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of our information technology processes and controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate and attend internal control walkthrough meetings with relevant stakeholders from each business unit and external auditors.
  2. Design, execute, and perform detailed testing of internal controls in accordance with professional audit standards and within established deadlines.
  3. Evaluate internal controls, propose enhancements to controls, and investigate the cause of internal control weaknesses.
  4. Perform analysis and needed remediation testing around identified control deficiencies.
  5. Work with our external auditors to ensure proper alignment and leverage of management's internal controls testing.

Requirements:

  1. 1+ years of Public Accounting experience is required.
  2. Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA, CIA, and/or CISA preferred.
  3. Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley and evaluating internal controls.
  4. IT audit experience, including a strong understanding of control environments within the IT function.
  5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required as this position has direct contact with numerous departments within and outside the company.
  6. Strong organizational skills and commitment to meeting reporting and control deadlines.
  7. Ability to work with a variety of team members and function in a dynamic environment.
  8. Ability to work independently to effectively support the team.
