EEG Technologist I

Fraser Health Authority is seeking a skilled EEG Technologist I to join our team at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre. As an EEG Technologist I, you will be responsible for performing various electroneurophysiological tests, including EEG tests and recording for Carotid Endarterectomy. You will evaluate test results and provide test information for interpretation by medical staff.
Responsibilities- Conduct and record EEG tests on patients by operating digital equipment, adjusting equipment during test processes, and taking measurements from test data to demonstrate whether abnormalities exist.
- Formulate technical preliminary reports by analyzing recordings, describing abnormal manifestations, and forwarding impressions to neurologists for diagnosis.
- Prepare for patient tests by receiving requisitions from physicians, reviewing case history, and assessing the nature of the problems to determine test approach. Obtain patient history from the patient or family, explain the procedure, attach electrodes to appropriate areas, and monitor patient comfort to ensure the patient is at ease while obtaining required results.
- Set up and monitor Carotid Endarterectomy during OR procedures and advise the surgeon of any changes during the procedure.
- Ensure equipment is functioning correctly and report any problems to Biomed for equipment servicing. Clean machine electrodes, calibrate equipment to ensure production of accurate records.
- Maintain adequate inventory of supplies and equipment. Provide input into capital equipment acquisitions and budget information.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Graduation from a recognized program in Electroneurophysiology Technology plus one year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Eligible for registration with the Canadian Board of Registration of Electroneurophysiology Technologists (CBRET) and/or the Board of Registered Electromyography Technologists of Canada (BRETC).
