Park Paving Ltd. has been a prominent player in the road construction sector in Edmonton for nearly five decades. We are currently seeking a BASE OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR to oversee our Base division for the upcoming construction season.
This position is seasonal and offers a competitive salary along with benefits, including the provision of a company vehicle for commuting and business-related tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the installation and construction of gravel road base systems.
- Assess and procure materials required for daily operations.
- Maintain accurate records of time and materials for effective job costing.
- Supervise, mentor, and train team members.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a secure work environment.
- Follow all company policies and provincial regulations regarding safe working practices.
- Conduct daily hazard assessments in line with company standards.
- Collaborate with team members to plan and discuss daily project objectives to enhance productivity.
- Inspect equipment to ensure proper functionality.
- Perform any labor or equipment operation tasks typically associated with road construction.
Qualifications:
All candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Possess a solid understanding of the construction industry and road construction standards.
- Demonstrate the ability to check grades effectively.
- Exhibit professionalism and courtesy towards colleagues, supervisors, and the public.
- Be physically capable of performing tasks that involve repetitive bending, lifting, kneeling, and prolonged walking.
- Be prepared to work in various weather conditions, including heat, humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
- Show punctuality and the ability to work full-time, including overtime and weekends.
- Have the capability to operate graders, loaders, skid-steers, and compaction equipment.
Successful candidates will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, enabling them to follow directions and coordinate effectively with their team and supervisors, while fostering a positive and respectful workplace culture. They will also maintain a focus on safety and accountability in collaboration with their supervisors and peers.
