Locomotive Production Manager

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist frontline mechanical supervisors in strategizing and implementing locomotive maintenance and repair operations, ensuring accountability for daily production goals.
  • Ensure seamless production continuity across shifts.
  • Communicate and uphold key performance indicators, analyzing root causes of operational challenges to guarantee that all team members understand the business objectives and their respective responsibilities.
  • Oversee job briefings, end-of-shift discussions, and safety meetings to confirm adherence to safety regulations, procedures, and policies through efficiency assessments and safety documentation.
  • Ensure adequate stock and materials are available, holding the inventory department accountable to safeguard production schedules for the upcoming 72 hours.
  • Conduct audits of maintenance tasks and procedures.
  • Maintain open communication and build positive relationships with local union representatives, ensuring that the collective agreement is comprehended and managed as stipulated.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or mechanical/electrical trade certification, or an equivalent university degree.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the railroad industry.
  • 3-5 years of experience in leading frontline operations.
  • Proficiency in locomotive maintenance, specifically with GE and EMD locomotive types.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Familiarity with SAP is required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Understanding of collective agreements and non-union policies.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of employees and adaptability to various situations.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring abilities.
