We are seeking a highly skilled Field Technician to join our team at CPKC. As a Field Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our locomotive fleet.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical assistance to our locomotive facilities, utilizing mechanical locomotive experience and knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Support the implementation of proactive and predictive running and overhaul fleet maintenance strategies and fleet reliability improvement programs for all critical locomotive subsystems.
- Distribute communications and technical instructions for new maintenance policies, reliability improvement programs, and other modifications.
- Audit shop compliance of documented work scopes, maintenance policies, and processes for all fleets, programs, and component repairs.
- Assist and provide feedback to the management team and craft employees on locomotive troubleshooting and repair strategies.
- Offer overall technical support at the facility for all locomotive fleets and systems, including PTC, RCLS, and other critical systems.
- Provide the mechanical shop with technical, on-site support and training as required for program implementation and/or new technology.
- Evaluate new locomotive technologies to support locomotive reliability.
- Oversee and support on-site, on-the-job training for craft employees, including apprentice rotation and qualification, and training on new fleets, programs, and technology.
- Must have a High School Diploma or General Equivalence Diploma; post-secondary education an asset.
- 10-15 years of field experience in locomotive maintenance on GE and EMD locomotive fleets.
- Field experience on North American locomotive maintenance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Applications.
- SAP Plant Maintenance an asset.
- Strong coaching skills.
- Strong locomotive background; electrical and mechanical.
- Bilingual, with the ability to communicate both written and verbally in English and French.
