Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Field Technician to join our team at CPKC. As a key member of our locomotive maintenance team, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance and support to our facilities, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our locomotive fleets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical troubleshooting support on GE and EMD locomotives, identifying and resolving complex mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Collaborate with the technical training group to develop and implement training programs for craft employees, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Work closely with the Superintendent and General Shop Foreman to manage the Diesel Mechanic Apprentice program, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful completion of the program.
  • Identify gaps in craft training and develop strategies to improve the locomotive knowledge base of shop employees.
  • Support the implementation of new modifications, software updates, and new technology, including PTC and RCLS, and provide feedback on work instructions.
  • Train craft employees on new technologies and procedures, ensuring they are equipped to perform their duties safely and efficiently.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or General Equivalence Diploma; post-secondary education an asset.
  • 10-15 years of field experience in locomotive maintenance on GE and EMD locomotive fleets.
  • Field experience on North American locomotive maintenance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications.
  • SAP Plant Maintenance an asset.
  • Strong coaching skills.
  • Strong locomotive background; electrical and mechanical.
  • Bilingual, with the ability to communicate both written and verbally in English and French.
