Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Coating Technician to join our team. As a Coating Technician, you will be responsible for operating various thin film coating chambers and measuring equipment, performing final preparation, loading, and inspection of complicated optical elements, and supporting the design of new tooling and fixtures for elements, chambers, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate various types of thin film coating chambers
  • Perform final preparation, loading, and inspection of complicated optical elements
  • Perform complicated maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of equipment
  • Support the design of new tooling and fixtures for elements, chambers, and equipment
  • Support the development of new manufacturing processes and make improvements to current manufacturing processes

Requirements

  • Understanding of principles of physics and chemistry
  • Understanding of principles of vacuum chambers
  • Understanding of principles of optical thin films
  • Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision
  • Ability to safely handle delicate optical parts
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Ability to comprehend and follow detailed instructions
  • Ability to read detailed drawings
  • Ability to effectively operate complicated equipment such as coating chambers and associated equipment, spectrophotometers

Education and Experience

  • Diploma in Photonics or Physical Sciences
  • Experience in the field of thin film coatings, particularly in optical coatings
