Position Overview: The Patient Engagement Operations Lead will play a crucial role within the Patient Oriented Research (POR) team at Michael Garron Hospital. This role focuses on collaborating with patients, caregivers, and community members to co-create effective solutions aimed at enhancing the quality, safety, and equity of healthcare delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the creation and execution of funded research and evaluation initiatives centered on patient engagement, safety, quality, health equity, and integrated care.
  • Manage operational tasks such as budget development and oversight, as well as the organization of administrative, ethical, and regulatory components of research studies.
  • Support the research team in executing daily research activities throughout the project lifecycle, including feasibility assessments, development of study materials, data collection, analysis, and reporting.

Mentorship and Guidance:

  • Guide the research team in formulating essential research inquiries and designing methodologies that align with protocols and data analysis plans.
  • Lead data analysis efforts in collaboration with the research team, ensuring methodological rigor across projects.
  • Oversee scientific projects and operational aspects for the research team, including contract management, financial oversight, and adherence to timelines.

Collaboration and Impact:

  • Provide regular updates on project progress and prepare comprehensive reports in partnership with the Principal Investigator.
  • Contribute to the expansion and impact of the research team through grant development and the establishment of partnerships with various stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in a relevant health field (e.g., public health, health research methodology) or MSc with a minimum of five years of related experience.
  • At least three years of experience managing large-scale health systems research projects, with a proven ability to deliver on time and within budget.
  • Experience collaborating with diverse groups, including patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and community organizations.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with co-design and participatory research methods.
  • Strong leadership and professionalism, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Proven experience managing substantial study budgets and advising researchers on financial matters.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively.
  • Commitment to the principles of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Anti-racism.
