Position Overview: Part-time role as a Child Development Support Specialist.
The Mission: To cultivate vibrant, healthy communities through supportive environments for young learners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver personal care to children, including but not limited to hygiene assistance, administering first aid, managing medications, and monitoring dietary needs and health conditions.
- Engage actively with children while ensuring their safety and supervision in groups of up to 15.
- Design and execute play-based educational activities aligned with the YMCA Curriculum.
- Maintain open and professional communication with families, colleagues, and volunteers.
- Foster an inclusive atmosphere that addresses the needs of all children, including those with special requirements.
- Exhibit behaviors that reflect our Mission, Vision, and Values.
- Follow the work schedule to maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios and provide timely notice to supervisors regarding any scheduling changes.
- Adapt to changes in routines and schedules as necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR (Level C) certification or willingness to obtain certification within the first 90 days of employment.
- Completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Up-to-date immunizations in accordance with local public health guidelines.
- Availability for a minimum of either two full days per week or three afternoons per week.
- A genuine passion for working with children and facilitating quality play-based learning experiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills for building relationships with families, staff, and volunteers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Physical capability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20 kg (44 lbs.), and engage in physical activities.
- Willingness to work outdoors for at least two hours daily, regardless of weather conditions.
- Early Childhood Education Diploma.
- Registered Early Childhood Educator status or willingness to obtain registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE).
