Position Summary

The selected candidate will oversee activities and follow-ups on matters related to employee relations; negotiation, interpretation, and application of collective agreements, management support, etc. This role involves representing the organization in discussions and on specific committees with union representatives on various topics. The incumbent will play a crucial role in fostering a harmonious work environment among employees, management, and union representatives.
  • Serve as the primary resource for first-level managers and the human resources team regarding inquiries related to Employee Relations;
  • Offer advisory support or act as a spokesperson during the negotiation of collective agreements, letters of understanding, and other negotiated arrangements;
  • Provide insights regarding the application of Collective Agreements, employment terminations, disciplinary actions, etc.;
  • Maintain and update the absenteeism records;
  • Conduct various legislative research;
  • Participate in and lead various employee relations committees;
  • Facilitate, structure, and participate in grievance meetings as necessary;
  • Advise management on various issues related to employee relations and relevant laws;
  • Represent the organization before various administrative tribunals;
  • Ensure the preparation of various documentation such as grievances, disciplinary meetings, arbitrations, and negotiation of collective agreements;
  • Collaborate closely with the company's legal representatives in conciliation, mediation, and arbitration hearings, as well as Human Rights and labor code complaints.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Employee Relations or a related field;
  • A minimum of 6-8 years of experience in a similar role;
  • Bilingualism is essential (French and English);
  • Familiarity with the Canada Labor Code is an asset;
  • Demonstrated leadership and proactive approach;
  • Client-oriented with strong influencing and communication skills;
  • Team-oriented and creative.
