WSP Canada is in search of a Mechanical Engineering Team Supervisor to become a vital part of our Resources division. This role will report directly to the Mechanical Engineering Manager and will be responsible for spearheading and managing the mechanical engineering initiatives for our expanding Resources team, while also overseeing the local Mechanical Engineering group.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to WSP Project procedures across all assignments.
- Provide expert guidance in the design and execution of intricate engineering projects within the Mechanical discipline.
- Lead the mechanical team to foster effective development and performance.
- Conduct feasibility studies and prepare technical documentation.
- Support planning, scheduling, and cost management activities in line with the Project Plan.
- Review and approve engineering drawings, ensuring compliance with design codes and regulations.
- Define project scopes and manage the workflow of the mechanical department.
- Supervise an engineering team engaged in the conception, planning, and execution of engineering designs and proposals.
- Guide projects to completion while adhering to established schedules and budgets.
- Assist in negotiating critical engineering challenges.
- Implement and uphold design standards and procedures.
- Assign and evaluate the work of junior engineering staff.
- Establish project scope and create Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
- Collaborate with clients to verify project scope and manage changes effectively.
- Work alongside various disciplines to assess the impact of changes on costs and schedules.
- Establish basic design criteria in collaboration with clients.
- Promote compliance with client and corporate procedures.
- Engage with all organizational levels in a collaborative manner.
- 10-20 years of experience in a consulting environment, particularly with Mining and/or Industrial clients.
- Experience in people management and mentorship.
- Fluency in English with strong verbal and written communication skills, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Membership or eligibility for membership with APEGS as a professional engineer in Saskatchewan.
- Familiarity with CSA, ANSI, ASME standards, and other relevant codes.
- Ability to visit industrial sites while adhering to safety regulations.
- Experience in mills, smelters, mines, industrial sites, infrastructure, and renewable energy systems is advantageous.
- Valid driver's license is required.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to thrive in a collaborative project environment.
- Proficiency in French is considered an asset.
