Position Overview

The Heavy Equipment Technician reports directly to the service supervisor and is accountable for the proficient repair of machinery and components, ensuring high-quality standards are met.

Key Responsibilities

1) Repair and Recondition Equipment and Components:

  • Plan and execute methods for performing assigned repairs.
  • Procure all necessary parts and materials for repairs.
  • Conduct repairs safely and effectively, ensuring completion as per assignments.
  • Maintain the aesthetic quality of equipment post-repair.
  • Return unused parts and materials according to established guidelines.
  • Keep the work area organized and safe.

2) Maintain Accurate Records:

  • Adhere to all record-keeping protocols as instructed.
  • Include all cost-related items in the job documentation.
  • Ensure all records are clear and comply with established methods.

3) Care for Tools and Equipment:

  • Obtain specialty tools through established methods.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are cleaned before returning.
  • Return all specialty tools to their designated locations in working order.

4) Professional Communication:

  • Engage with customers and colleagues respectfully and honestly.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities, reliability, ethical standards, intelligence, and adaptability to various stakeholders including customers, suppliers, and coworkers.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Technical school certification or equivalent experience in mechanical repairs.
  • Journeyman Mechanics License (421A Heavy Duty Mechanic) and a valid driver's license with a clean driving record are advantageous.
  • Minimum of 2 to 5 years of relevant industry experience.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of equipment operations and mechanical functions.
  • Capability to perform repairs across all major equipment systems.
