Full-Cycle Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Full-Cycle Accountant to join our team at Kaizen Lab Inc. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial operations of our organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Prepare journal entries and adjust accounts as needed.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Ensure payables and receivables are processed according to policies and procedures. Prepare GST/HST returns, claiming appropriate rebates on invoices.
  • Banking and Cash: Perform daily cash flow reporting and manage timing of payments as necessary. Liaise with bank authorities. Ensure bank reconciliations are completed monthly and assist where needed.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Requirements: Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations. Assist with annual audits and liaise with external auditors.
  • Financial Analysis: Analyze financial data to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement. Collaborate with colleagues on special projects as needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent work experience
  • CPA designation (or in progress) is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in full-cycle accounting
  • Experience working in a not-for-profit and/or charity using restricted fund accounting
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks accounting software
  • Experience preparing and managing multi-department budgets
  • Comprehensive understanding of GST and Canadian payroll procedures
  • Ability to lead the organization's strategic direction related to all aspects of its finances
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Strong communication skills that facilitate effective collaboration across all levels of the organization
  • Highly organized team player with great attention to detail and accuracy
  • Quick learner with a strong work ethic
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Current Criminal Record Check
