We are seeking an experienced Architectural Designer to join our team at the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. As an Architectural Designer, you will play a key role in preparing and coordinating conceptual plans, reviewing venue design and construction contract bid documents and specifications for projects.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare concept designs, specifications, and presentations for development projects.
- Coordinate development of project design and documentation with external consultants, managing both internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage external design and engineering consultants and vendors.
- Prepare and review plans, construction bid documents, and specifications for major and minor capital improvement projects and for alteration and renovation projects.
- Develop project scope, schedule, and cost, and review this with the business unit to ensure the project meets business objectives.
- Monitor project progress to ensure alignment with set goals and timelines.
- Act as the liaison between the different stakeholders in the project, ensuring communication at all levels and keeping all parties up to date.
- Review and analyze construction documents to ensure design and programmatic alignment and identify potential constructability or coordination risks during preconstruction phase.
- Working with the Project Manager, monitor construction progress through on-site inspection and review.
- Create furniture plans, select furnishings, prepare budgets and coordinate orders for projects.
- Responsible to oversee delivery of furniture and finality of the project.
- Work with Art and Branding teams on development and implementation of venue art program.
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture; 5+ years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Licensure is preferred.
- Experience with all phases of project development from conceptual design through construction administration.
- A strong understanding of building codes and systems.
- Experience working on venue related build outs, expansions and/or improvements preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in project management principles, practices, techniques, and tools.
- Knowledge of current building codes, building systems and specifications.
- Ability to design and plan major construction projects.
- Ability to travel to project sites and meetings, including Canada and the US.
- Strong interpersonal skills, analytical skills, and leadership skills.
- Working knowledge of Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, REVIT, Sketchup/Enscape, and Bluebeam.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment
Stationary position for extended periods of time at a computer station or work desk; movement throughout the day; occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.; ability to operate computers and office equipment for up to 8 hours each day; move up to 10 pounds regularly; exposed to typical office environment conditions and noise levels.
