Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team at The Italian Osteria & Cheesebar. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of food and exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage kitchen operations, including menu planning, inventory control, and staff supervision.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop and implement new menu items and promotions.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, as well as company standards for food quality and presentation.
  • Recruit, train, and develop kitchen staff, including interviewing, orientations, and ongoing training and development.
  • Conduct regular kitchen audits to ensure cleanliness and organization.
  • Monitor food costs and labor targets, and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Supervise a team of 5 or more kitchen staff.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3 years' culinary experience in a professional kitchen.
  • Food Safe Level 1 certification.
  • First Aid Level 1 certification (considered an asset).
  • Proficient working knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of Optimum (considered an asset).
  • Formal culinary education (considered an asset).
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
