Position Overview

The role of a Construction Cost Estimator at Larry Yanchishyn Building Materials LTD. involves a critical assessment of project costs and resource allocation to ensure financial efficiency and project viability.

Educational Requirements
  • Completion of a college, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma program lasting 1 to 2 years

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed estimates for labor and material expenses
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to ascertain project requirements
  • Compile estimates for overhead and general expenses
  • Conduct economic feasibility analyses and preliminary cost assessments for proposed initiatives
  • Generate and submit comprehensive estimate reports, quotation sheets, and bidding documents
  • Employ quantity take-off methodologies
  • Provide guidance on tendering processes
  • Evaluate tenders and make award recommendations
  • Establish cost monitoring and reporting frameworks
  • Oversee and adjust contract expenditures as necessary
  • Maintain a directory of suppliers and trade contractors
  • Collaborate and communicate with engineers, architects, project owners, contractors, and subcontractors regarding modifications to cost estimates
  • Review blueprints and drawings thoroughly
Experience with Project Size Estimation
  • Experience estimating projects ranging from $0 to $100,000
  • Experience with projects between $1,500,001 and $4,000,000
  • Experience with projects between $4,000,001 and $8,000,000
Work Experience Area
  • Expertise in purchasing, procurement, and contract management
Required Experience
  • 1 to less than 2 years of relevant experience
