About the Role

We are seeking highly skilled and experienced Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to join our team at RhynoCare. As an LPN, you will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to residents in long term and acute care facilities in the Nanaimo area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Nursing Care Delivery: Provide nursing care in accordance with established policies, physician's orders, and resident plans of care, within the scope of practice of an LPN.
  • Sound Nursing Practice: Utilize sound nursing practice principles to ensure the delivery of excellent nursing and personal care in assigned home areas.
  • Resident Admission and Transfer: Ensure timely and accessible admissions for residents, including comprehensive orientations to the home and services offered. Ensure resident transfers and discharges are timely and safe.
  • Medication Management: Ensure the safekeeping and control of drugs and narcotics, and follow protocols on all assigned shifts.
  • Nursing Care Planning: Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care to meet the physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and social needs of residents.
Requirements
  • Registration and Certification: Active registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
  • Infection Control: Ability to work with persons with infectious diseases.
  • CPR and First Aid: BLS Certificate and valid First Aid & CPR.
  • Immunizations and TB Test: Proof of current immunizations for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Varicella (MMRV), and a negative TB skin test within one year, as well as Hepatitis B.
  • Police Check: Current Vulnerable Sector Police Check.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Flexibility and Teamwork: Ability to work independently or as part of a team, and work flexible shift times, including eight or twelve hours in length.
  • Float and Reliability: Ability to 'float' from unit to unit within a hospital, and be reliable in accepting and cancelling shifts.
